Oils may be diluted with Vitamin E or another high quality organic carrier like coconut or olive oil. This oil can also be used to remove essential oils if an irritation should occur due to contact with eyes or other sensitive tissue. Do not attempt to remove or dilute with water. A tiny amount of soap added to a spray bottle or bath water will allow for dispersion of the essential oils in the water. Remember to use opaque, glass containers only.
Dose small pets as you would an infant. One drop goes a long way. Never put oils into the eye, nor into the ear canal.
Dogs and cats are much more sensitive to aromatherapy than are humans due to their increased number of nasal receptors. For this reason, always allow your pets to leave a room where you’re diffusing oils or limit their time of exposure.
The lipid soluble structures can penetrate cell membranes and transport oxygen and nutrients into cells and even cross the blood-brain barrier.
Constituents of oils are antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, affect emotions, hormonal balance and more. Therapeutic grade oils may be applied topically to pets, diffused into their airspace, fed to them orally and used to clean their environment. Any oil that states “do not ingest” should not be used on pets. Good quality lavender can be soothing to hotspots or burns, promote wound healing, and prevent infection.
Medicinal use is much more than "aromatherapy".
An essential oil is the liquid removed from a plant via distillation. This is not to be confused with essential fatty acids. Essential oils are volatile, they evaporate. Therapeutic grade essential oils contain no synthetic perfumes. Therapeutic grade are the only type of oils which should be used on dogs and cats.

Be extra cautious in animals if using melaleuca (commonly known as tea tree), clove, cinnamon, peppermint, and oregano.
Frankincense (Boswellia sacra) is a resin distilled only in Oman. It is being used intratumorally, topically, orally, and via diffusion to manage cancer.
